Exploring River Ecosystems: A Biology Field Experience

Step into the shoes of an environmental scientist and uncover the hidden world of freshwater ecology! In this hands-on program, students investigate the diverse macroinvertebrate communities living in the Canning River. Using authentic field equipment, they’ll collect samples, identify species, and analyze how these organisms influence water quality and ecosystem health.

Through real-world observation and data collection, students will explore key biological concepts such as biodiversity, ecological interactions, and the role of indicator species. Want to dig deeper? We can tailor the experience to focus on classification, adaptations, or food web dynamics, making this an exciting and practical extension of classroom biology.
