Inspiring Students to Protect WA’s Coastlines

Give your students an unforgettable, hands‑on learning experience exploring the dynamic coastal landscapes of Point Peron or Iluka within WA’s stunning marine parks. This full‑day program immerses Years 7–10 in real‑world geography as they investigate coastal landforms, erosion processes, and human impacts—all while developing critical inquiry and fieldwork skills. Designed to align with the Australian Curriculum, this excursion blends scientific investigation with outdoor adventure. Students leave with a deeper appreciation of Western Australia’s unique coastal ecosystems—and a clear understanding of how their actions can protect them.

When booking, please choose 3 of the following activities.

Explore coastal landforms up close through guided field observation and sketching

Conduct Transect Studies to measure beach profiles and assess dune stability

Identify and analyse human impacts, capturing evidence through photos and field notes

Simulate wave erosion using sand‑tray experiments that bring coastal processes to life

Participate in a guided walk around the limestone formations via lookouts and platforms

Study quadrats on a reef walk, identifying living creatures that make up the reef platform (Subject to weather conditions, low tide only. Reef walking shoes required)

Locations: 

• Shoalwater Marine Park, Cape Peron
• Marmion Marine Park, Iluka **

Duration: 4 hours inclusive of morning tea and lunch breaks. Groups arrive at 10 am then have 15 minutes for morning tea, activities commence after morning tea. Finish times can be adjusted to your needs.

COST: $510 (inc. GST), per 30 students, (up to 60 students can be accommodated per day)

  Please note:

1. For Point Peron bookings, lunch is off site (approx 5min drive away) 
2. Risk documents have bus drop off/pick up marked GPS points 
3. ** available from 2027 only
4. Maximum students per group is 30. Multiple groups can be accommodated (up to 60 students).
5. Our booking officer will get back to you via email to confirm your excursion including cost per student within 7 working days.
