Djarlma - The Forest and Me - A Learning Adventure on Country
Yr4 - Yr 7 - Term 2
Step into the wonders of Western Australia’s forests with this engaging 8 lesson learning journey. Designed to ignite curiosity and deepen students’ understanding of the natural world, this program blends scientific inquiry, Noongar knowledge, and real‑world outdoor learning to create unforgettable educational experiences.
From discovering what makes a forest, to exploring its layers, investigating local species, building food webs, understanding fire, meeting forest fauna, and learning how to care for Country — students become active explorers, scientists, and custodians of their local environment.
Featuring hands‑on fieldwork, collaborative activities, and cultural perspectives woven throughout, this program empowers students to:
- Understand the interdependence of living things
- Recognise local WA flora and fauna
- Explore fire ecology and plant adaptations
- Build ecosystems through interactive games
- Develop observation and environmental stewardship skills
- Learn how to protect and respect Boodja (Country)
The program is designed to meet WA Curriculum outcomes for Science - Biological Sciences, Science - Earth & Space Sciences, Science - Inquiry Skills, HASS- Geography and Cross-Cultural Priority - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. Parents will be provided with a document containing lesson outcomes and curriculum links during the course of the term.

Please note when you book, 6th May will be the only session you will see.
However, your booking will cover 8 sessions until the 24th June 2026.
Please note that parent/supervisor participation and supervision is required in every session.
This program is suitable for Yr 4 to Yr 7 children. Siblings are welcome but must be under parent supervision.
