Field Data Collection: Techniques in Action

Australia is one of the world’s seventeen megadiverse countries, home to extraordinary plant and animal life. Right here in the Southwest forests of Western Australia—an internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot—students will step into the role of a field biologist.

Discover and apply a range of scientific techniques used to study ecosystems. Students will conduct detailed quadrat mapping, measure plant characteristics, and explore monitoring practices such as trapping, camera surveys, and other non-invasive methods.

As an exciting bonus, this program offers an optional animal encounter, giving students the chance to meet some of the native species protected by the Western Shield conservation program.*
