Starry Skies @ Wellington Discovery Forest

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been observing the skies for millennia. It is where ancestral beings exist and observe. It is both a map and guide to navigation, seasons and cultural practice. Come join the Nearer to Nature SW team, Harvey Aboriginal Corporation and the Astronomical Society of the South West for a night under the stars, sharing, listening and learning about the night sky from each other.

This is family friendly event where we can all learn more about how the sky connects to the land. Bring your camp chair and blanket and enjoy a night of story-telling around a campfire with damper before being guided by members of the Astrological Society to get a closer look at the night sky with telescopes.

The activity will run for approximately 2.5 hours. Dress appropriately for the weather. BYO camp chairs and blankets if its cool. Bring a torch.

If you wish to make a night of it, there is accommodation available in the Wellington Forest Cottages. Go to wfccc.com.au to book.
