Habitat Heroes @ RAC Margaret River Nature Park - Home School Activity
Come join the Nearer to Nature South West team at the RAC Margaret River Nature Park for a 4-hour session learning about the Department's Western Shield program and how it is working to save threatened species. Through the excursion and the accompanying pre and post visit materials, students will develop an understanding of the high biodiversity values of the region, the threatening processes faced by our native fauna and the components of Western Shield and how it helps bring our native fauna back from the brink of extinction. Students will learn the procedure of live trapping and data collection for the purposes of nature conservation. They will undertake a hands-on mock trapping exercise and a habitat walk through the Wooditjup National Park. Students will be empowered with the knowledge of how each individual can contribute to biodiversity conservation through community action.
