Forests For Our Future (10-12) - Perth Metro

  • Duration: 4 Hours (approx.)

Suitable for Years 10, 11 and 12

An approach to land cover change and biodiversity

Climate change is increasing pressure on every ecosystem in Australia, posing challenges for management of our natural environment, national parks and biodiversity.  Forest management has transitioned from managing forests for a sustained yield of timber to managing forests for forest health and climate resilience.

Engage in fieldwork to determine biodiversity and forest health values. Find out how modern practices can work towards protecting native wildlife and flora biodiversity while promoting forest resilience and health.  Understand forests require management as complex and dynamic ecosystems to deliver ecological, economic and social benefits into an uncertain climate future.

During this program your students will learn how we are actively managing the forest to promote forest health, conserve biodiversity and endure climate change. Act as a forest manager and engage in field work that will help you learn how to care for the forest.
