Let's Go Batty! @ WDF
- Duration: 120 Minutes (approx.)
- Location: Wellington, WA
Let's Go Batty @ Wellington Discovery Forest
Come join the Nearer to Nature SW Team and Kelly from the Conservation Council of WA as she teaches us about native bats while the sun sets and then leads us on a night walk with special microphones that pick up the sound of the bat calls in the dark - we may even catch a glimpse of these elusive fast flyers as they forage for insects.
Most bat sounds are at frequencies that can’t be heard by the human ear, needing special microphones and software to translate the calls into frequencies we can hear and observe.
The Wellington Discovery Forest is home to the Chocolate Wattled Bat. With a face that perhaps only a mother could love and a voracious appetite for insects, come find out if it really tastes like a Freddo Frog. Please note – we do not advocate taste-testing bats.
So, hop in your bat mobile and come join us. Lets go batty!
