Fire in the Landscape (4-6 & ESC) -Perth Metro
- Duration: 4 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Mundaring, WA

Fire has shaped life for millions of years!
In Australia, lightning sparked fires long before people arrived, and later Aboriginal communities used fire to care for Country. These natural and cultural fires have influenced the unique plants and animals of south-western Australia—many with incredible adaptations to survive and regenerate after fire.
In this program, students will explore the rich history of fire in the jarrah forest, then journey along a trail in Beelu National Park to discover how plants and animals adapt after fire and investigate the role of fuel in shaping fire behaviour. The experience finishes with an up-close look at real firefighting equipment—including a fire truck*—and an introduction to bushfire suppression techniques.
Duration: 4 hours. Groups arrive at 10 am then have 15-20 minutes for morning tea, activities commence after morning tea. Finish times can be adjusted to your needs.
