Boodja Nature Explorers - PP to Yr3 - Term 3
An eight-week, hands‑on, place‑based learning program designed to connect children with the Wellington Discovery Forest. The program helps children build a deep connection with Boodja (Country) through sensory exploration, Noongar knowledge, science inquiry, and caring for the environment.
What Your Child Will Learn
Over the 8 weeks, children will explore in detail the forest cycle (how soil is made), fungi and the features, life cycle and adaptations of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and aquatic invertebrates. Finishing off by celebrating the season of Djilba and the flowers in bloom at Crooked Brook Forest.
Each session includes a sensory warm‑up, a guided nature walk and/or hands‑on exploration, and a nature journal activity.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
By the end of the 8‑week program, students will:

- Recognise key features of the jarrah forest and the animals that live there
- Understand Noongar names and seasonal knowledge
- Identify local plants, animals, and habitats

Program Dates
Term 2 2026 -
Wednesday - 29th July to 16th Sept 2026
(except Week 3 of the program which will be Friday 14th
August)
10 am - 11.30am
Please note when you book, 29th July will be the only session you will see.
However, your booking will cover 8 sessions until the 16th September 2026.
Please note that parent/supervisor participation and supervision is required in every session.
This program is suitable for Pre-primary to Yr 3 children. Siblings are welcome but must be under parent supervision.
Pre-primary / Year 1 children will need active parent assistance to get the most out of the activities.
