A hands-on study of local flora
Explore the unique flora of one of the world’s 34 biodiversity hotspots—the south-west of Western Australia. Students will learn how native plants have adapted to challenging abiotic conditions and investigate the threats they face. A guided forest walk through the jarrah/marri forest introduces key species and highlights ecological adaptations. Students will collect hands-on data using quadrats and both line and belt transects, gaining insight into field methods used by ecologists. The excursion also includes a brief discussion on managing critical environmental threats.
