Culture in the Forest Discovery Day -Perth Metro

This exciting day includes various hands-on cultural activities set in nature! This activity depends on provider availability and may include music, art, plants and their uses, animals and their significance to Aboriginal people.
Animal encounter - Get up close to some of our unique native mammals and learn about their special adaptations to the Australian environment. Specific educational animals depend on available providers eg. reptiles, mammals, birds etc.
Forest trail - Discover the amazing forest in the Beelu National Park and the cultural significance of the plants and animals that call it home with our Nearer to Nature leaders.
This program is designed for large groups up to 120 students. If you are looking for an option suitable for smaller groups, up to 60 students, please see our Djarlgarra Yarning activity at CREEC (see related products).
These programs are available on the following days only:
Term 1: Thursday 10th April
Term 2: Monday 12th May & Wednesday 2nd July
Term 3: Tues 29th July & Monday 22nd September
Term 4: Friday 24th October & Wednesday 10th December
Cross-curricular and General capabilities: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures (ACv9), Critical and Creative Thinking (ACv9), Personal and Social Capability (ACv9), Sustainability (ACv9)
Location: Perth Hills Discovery Centre, Mundaring (PHDC)
Duration: 4 hours - 10am to 2 pm inclusive of morning tea and lunch breaks. Groups arrive at 10 am then have 15-20 minutes for morning tea, activities commence after morning tea. Finish times can be adjusted to your needs
Cost: $5,819 (inc. GST), for up to 120 students with an animal encounter
OR $4,279 (inc. GST), for up to 120 students without and animal encounter

- Maximum students per rotational group is 30. Up to four classes can be accommodated.
