Culture in the Forest Discovery Day (7-12) -Perth Metro

A cultural discovery day provides a flexible way to engage large groups, multiple classes or multiple year levels to learn about aboriginal culture.  Four groups of students (up to 120 students in total) will rotate between four different activities of your choice.   The exciting day includes various hands-on cultural activities set in nature.  In addition to the some of the modules offered in our Forest discovery days, cultural activities can include music, art, plants and their cultural uses, and the significance of animals to Aboriginal people. 

Cultural and additional activities include: 

Cultural activities (EP) - themes can include music, art, bush tucker, native beauty product making, plants and their uses, animals and their significance to Aboriginal people.  

Note: availability of activities may vary based on available providers.

Animal encounter (EP) - Get up close to some of our unique native mammals and learn about their special adaptations to the Australian environment. Specific educational animals depend on available providers e.g. reptiles, mammals, birds etc.  

Forest trail - Discover the amazing forest in the Beelu National Park and the cultural significance of the plants and animals that call it home with our Nearer to Nature leaders.

Location: Perth Hills Discovery Centre, Mundaring (PHDC) 

Duration: 4 hours - 10am to 2 pm inclusive of morning tea and lunch breaksGroups arrive at 10 am then have 15-20 minutes for morning tea, activities commence after morning tea. Finish times can be adjusted to your needs

  1. This program is designed for large groups up to 120 students. If you are looking for an option suitable for smaller groups, up to 60 students, please see our Djarlgarra Yarning activity at CREEC (see related products).

  4. Maximum students per rotational group is 30. Up to four groups can be accommodated.
  5. Our booking officer will get back to you via email to confirm your excursion including cost per student within 7 working days.
